Willie, a small and anxious pup, is filled with worry and dread. His owner takes him to a brand-new dog park, and Willie’s imagination runs wild with all the scary things that could happen. But when they arrive, Willie is surprised to find two friendly dogs, Sadie and Rex, who invite him to play. During a storm, the trio huddle together under a bench, and Rex and Sadie help Willie imagine the thunder and lightning in a way that calms his fear.
After the storm passes, Willie realizes that none of the scary things he imagined came true, and he made some new friends. This story, told in rhyming couplets, teaches readers that new experiences can be positive and rewarding. Zhang’s cartoon illustrations are full of charm, and the text and rhyme scheme are suitable for readers ages 4 to 8.Check on Amazon Check on Barnes and Noble Check on Powells
