She lives on a failing farm in Center Point, Texas with her brother and stepfather, and is plagued by visions that are both a blessing and a curse. If her premonitions are wrong, people may think she is mentally ill, and if they are right, it could mean disaster. Despite the weight of the world on her shoulders, Jess is determined to use her gift to help others. Her mission becomes even more urgent when she starts to have visions of young women being kidnapped in her town. The story also follows Anna Mae Cole, Jess’ grandmother, as she navigates life in the 1960s with the same powers.
