Q: How do I log into my account?
A: If you are a customer click on "My Account" at the very top of the page. Enter your email address and your password. This will take you to a welcome screen where you can change your account information, address, password, and email address. You can also view and change your order and view and change the adderss of your recipients.
A: If you are a recipient you start by clicking on the "Gift Recipients" at the very top of the page. Enter your Gift Code.
Q: How do I find my Gift Code?
A: Your Gift Code is printed in the upper right corner of the shipping label on every book shipped (see image). It is included in the original Gift Card or E-mail message you received announcing your gift. It is also on the email confirmation that was sent to the customer who purchased the gift. The 13-digit Gift Code is in this format: "1234567890X12". You can also call or e-mail us and include your name and address so we can look up your Gift Code for you.
Q: I moved, how do I change my shipping address?
A: If you are a customer you start by clicking on "My Account" at the top of the page. Enter your email address and your password. This will take you to a welcome screen where you can change your account information including your address.
A: If you are a recipient you start by clicking on the "Gift Recipients" link at the top of the page. Enter your Gift Code, and click the "Edit Address" button. Please complete a change of address by the 20th of any month to ensure the change occurs before the next book is shipped.
Q: Can I see what books will be shipped to me?
A: Yes. As the recipient you click on the "Gift Recipients" link at the top of the page and enter your Gift Code, You can then see the list of books you are scheduled to receive. At this page you have the opporotunity to select a different book.
Q: Can I pick a different book than the one that's scheduled to be sent next month?
A: Yes, we encourage substitutions. Any book in any package can be substituted. Please go to our web site, click the "Gift Recipients" link at the top of the page, enter your Gift Code, and click the "Change Book" button to select a new book. Please complete this by the 20th of any month to ensure the change occurs before the next book is shipped.
Q: I want to substitute a book for one that is not in your collections. Are you able to get it for me?
A: We have access to virtually any book in print in the U.S. and are happy to add books customers specifically request. To request a substitution log into your account, view your list of books, click on "Change Book" for the book you want to change, click on "Enter your own selection", then enter the title, author and your email. (ISBN is helpful if you know it, but not necessary.) When you hit "Enter", your request is automatically sent to email@example.com. We respond within 2 days.
Q: I have loved my gift subscription. How do I renew my order?
A: It's easy. Just go to our web site and select the collection and length of the book subscription you want. Click the "Add To Basket" button then click the "Checkout" button to begin the checkout process. If you have been a customer before enter your email address and password. You can then pick the recipient either from your list of past recipients or enter a new recipient. Then continue the checkout process.
Q: I already have this book. What do I do?
A: GiftLit wants to make sure you receive only the books you want, so you can return any book that is shipped to you. When you return a book to us we will ship you a replacement from the same Collection Name. Our return address is on the label. Shipping USPS Media Mail is the least expensive.
Q: We purchased 12 month gift subscriptions for our parents/grandchildren last year and would like to do that again. If we select the same category, will there be new books this year?
A: Yes. We are constantly adding new books to all of our collections. We are also constantly expanding our back list so more books are available to substitute. And, to make sure no customer receives a book they already got from us, we screen each book shipping to each address to prevent shipping duplicate titles, even if two identical packages are gifted to the same address.
Q: How do I return a book?
A: To return a book use the return label located in the bottom left corner of the packing slip that you received with the book. After removing the return label, place the remaining packing slip in the box with the book you wish to return. Affix the return label to the outside of your returned package and mail it back to the address on the return label, which is: GiftLit c/o Kepler's Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Suite 100, Menlo Park, CA 94025
Q: I just placed an order, but have not received an order confirmation. What do I do now?
A: Order confirmations are sent immediately after an order is placed and usually arrive in a customer's in-box shortly after. Although there are many reasons why it could be delayed, the most common is that it has mistakenly gone to a SPAM folder. If it's not in your SPAM folder, and it's been more than 15 minutes since placing the order, please email us at service@GiftLit.org and we'll be happy to confirm your order.
Q: I just placed an order. How do I review the details of that order?
A: First log into your account by clicking on "My Account" at the very top of the page. Then click on "View/Change Orders". You'll see a list of all the orders you have placed. Click on "View/Change Order" for the order you want to view.
Q: Can I send books outside the country?
A: Sorry, not at this time. We are investigating international shipments for future orders.
Q: Can I pick the month I want the books to be sent out?
A: Yes. When you create your gift package you have the flexibility to start the gift subscription on any month. All books are mailed out so they arrive during the first few days of the month. The subscription will then continue and automatically send a book every month until the subscription completes. We cannot target a specific day of the month to send a book.
Q: How do I contact you?
A: You can call us at 800-987-2939 and leave a message (please include your name and Gift Code). You can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you can navigate to our Contact Us page and fill out the message form. We will get back to you within a day.
Q: What is sent to the recipient?
A: To make every GiftLit purchase special, we include a complimentary gift card and a set of bookplates - one for each month of your gift. Your gift card will be printed with your personalized gift message. The bookplates can be personalize with a special message that will be remembered every time the book is opened.This unique gift notification package will be mailed within 2 business days after your order is placed and can be sent either to you or directly to your gift recipient. We also offer email gift notification if you need it to arrive immediately.
Q: When do the books arrive?
A: Each book package is shipped at the end of the previous month so that it will arrive with your personalized gift message during the first week of each month of the subscription period.
Q: How often do you update your collections?
A: We refresh the books in the collections, add new collections, and add new books to our catalog on a continuous basis. We are constantly gathering information from all our sources (librarians, educators, authors, booksellers, book buyers, book store owners, avid readers, industry experts, industry data, publishers, and customers) to make available the best of the new books being published. We send out a monthly newsletter highlighting some of the lastest books and collections.
Q: Who selects the books in each of your collections?
A: The books in each collection are carefully selected by our team of book experts. The team includes librarians, educators, authors, booksellers, book buyers, book store owners, avid readers and industry experts. We are a member of the ABA (American Booksellers Association) and get advance information from publishers on upcoming new resleases. We also use book industry tools to analyze book selling trends and book reviews from across the country. We have access to ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) of upcoming releases so we can read the books before the book publication date. With all of this information and expertise we carefully select the most respected books and gather them into our unique collections. From historical fiction to bedtime stories for babies you can be sure that every book we choose is among the best books in its category. Our selections often include award winners, old favorites, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. We are constantly adding new books to each collection so they always contain the best of the new releases.
Q: Is it like a book club were I have to cancel my order at the end of the term otherwise they keep coming?
A: No. This is a one-time gift of a predefined subscription length of books. No further charges apply to this gift. When all books are delivered the gift subscription ends. The gift subscription will not be automatically extended.
